It’s that time of year to dive into the patch, find that perfect pumpkin and get carving.
It’s about a month until Halloween and families are ready to break out the carving knives, decorate their front porches and start sipping apple cider and pumpkin spice lattes.
Greater Hartford has quite a few farms offering either pick your own pumpkins or pre-picked pumpkins from the field. Many also offer children’s activities, corn mazes, other fall decorations and more fresh produce such as apples. They are open almost daily and make a great family outing. Who doesn’t love a photo in the pumpkin patch?
Karabin Farms
894 Andrews St., Southington, CT
Karabin Farms is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pumpkin patch opened in mid-September and is ready to be picked.
Belltown Hill Orchards
483 Matson Hill Road, South Glastonbury, CT
Belltown Hills Orchards is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends 8 -a.m. to 4 p.m. Take a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch with your family and search for the perfect pumpkin.
Foster Family Farm
90 Foster St., South Windsor, CT
Foster Family Family has a variety of fall activities from corn mazes to hayrides, children’s farm play courtyard to pre-picked pumpkins to buy. The farm is open Mondays to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The night corn mazes open at 6:30 p.m.

Pickin’ Patch
Nod Road, Avon, CT
The Pickin’ Patch has a full pumpkin patch for people to explore. They are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and have wagons and wheelbarrows to gather your pumpkins in. They have orange and a variety of heirloom and specialty pumpkins as well as sugar pumpkins, gourds, munchkins and more. They also carry mums, cornstalks and straw bales.
