November 6 last date to apply for inclusion of names in North-East Teachers’ Constituency voters’ list

The process of revising the voters’ list for the North-East Teachers’ Constituency of Legislative Council is under way, with November 6 set as the last date for eligible voters to apply for inclusion of their names, said Regional Commissioner Zaheera Naseem, who is also the Electoral Registration Officer for the constituency. As per the details provided by the officer, the revision is being undertaken with November 1, 2025, as the qualifying date. As part of the revision schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on November 25, and objections or claims will be invited up to December 10. The final voters’ list will be published on December 30, 2025, the officer stated in a press release. Ms. Naseem informed that she will function as the Electoral Registration Officer, while the Deputy Commissioners of all districts in the Kalaburagi Division, along with the Commissioners of Kalaburagi and Ballari City Corporations, Assistant Commissioners, and Tahsildars, will act as Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. Eligible teachers can submit applications or objections within the prescribed time limits at these offices. Even those whose names were included in the previous electoral rolls must reapply using Form-19, she clarified, urging all eligible teachers to take interest in enrolling themselves to strengthen the democratic process. Explaining the eligibility criteria, she said any citizen of India ordinarily residing within the constituency limits and engaged in the teaching profession for a minimum of three years in the six years preceding November 1, 2025, in any government-recognised educational institution of at least secondary standard, is eligible to be registered as a voter. Applicants must attach Aadhaar card, voter ID, two passport-size photographs with a white background, and a certificate in Annexure-2 issued by the head of the institution and attested by the drawing and disbursing officer, confirming the applicant’s teaching service. Teachers can register either in the area where they work or where they ordinarily reside. The officer also clarified that bulk applications will not be accepted. However, heads of institutions may submit applications on behalf of their staff to the electoral registration authorities. Family members may file applications on behalf of other members of the household. Submitting false information in the application will invite penal action under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, she warned.
