Not Shubman Gill! Virat Kohli Advised To Open With Rohit Sharma In 3rd ODI

India are currently taking on Australia in the final ODI of the three-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground. India will be batting secnd, after Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. When India do come out in the second innings, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli, especially after he managed to score two consecutive ducks in the first two games of the series. He is desperately looking for runs in the final game of the series, and now former India opener Saddagopan Ramesh has a special plea to captain Shubman Gill to help Kohli get back into runs. In an interaction with Sportskeeda, Saddagopan Ramesh suggested that Virat Kohli should open the batting with Rohit Sharma like they did in T20Is. He advised Shubman Gill to drop down to no.3. This would lessen the pressure of the scoreboard on Virat Kohli. "I urge the Indian think tank to think differently. Like T20s, open with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and have Shubman Gill bat at No. 3. Let Kohli start at 0/0 so that the situation-based pressure can be erased. Sometimes even legendary cricketers need a helping hand," Ramesh said, speaking on his own YouTube channel, as quoted by Sportskeeda. FOLLOW: India Vs Australia 3rd ODI Live Score And Updates 'Virat Kohli Under Tremendous Pressure' Saddagopan Ramesh said that Virat Kohli is batting without joy and facing tremendous pressure because of playing just one format. Hence, he is facing pressure on his career, and also the extra pressure of the scoreboard whenever an early wicket falls with 10 or 15 runs on the board. "It looks like Kohli is under tremendous pressure when he is batting. It's okay to fail but it's sad to see him batting without joy. Batters face two kinds of pressure. One is career-based pressure and the other is the pressure due to the match situation. I feel for Virat Kohli because they've started putting pressure on his career. It's clear he is being affected by that, especially when he is playing only one format," Ramesh explained. "He is also lacking in match practice because of it. But apart from the career pressure, he is also under pressure match-situation wise. He is walking in at 10 or 15 for one every time, which brings extra pressure," he added.
