‘Not a bad word’: Rashida Tlaib goes into hysterical screaming rant after calling GOP fascists

Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib got into an intense shouting match with Republican Florida Rep. Byron Donalds during a Thursday hearing after appearing to call the GOP fascists.

Democrats’ rhetoric about Republicans has come under scrutiny since Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination on Sept. 10. During a House Oversight Committee hearing on crime in Washington, D.C., Tlaib used the term “fascist” and said that Republicans should not be offended by it, leading Donalds to snap back.

“We can’t be passive right now. So nobody over there should take anything we say so personally as if we’re attacking them. No, we’re attacking a process. We’re not attacking people here. And I think it’s really important we need to stand up against this fascist takeover,” Tlaib said. “That’s not a bad word. It’s a fact. And here in D.C., and across the country, it is so incredibly important, Mr. Chair, that this committee does not allow rhetoric that defames or paints Washington D.C., in a way that you all haven’t really truly seen.”

Donalds asked Tlaib to yield for him to ask a question but she refused and continued ranting.

“Chairman, I think it’s insane that the gentlelady doesn’t have an argument, but she’s going to refer to me and some of my colleagues like we were from the Third Reich. This is insane. It’s insane. It’s insane. It’s insane. Do I look like a member of the Third Reich to you, Ms. Tlaib?” Donalds asked. “Is that what I look like to you? Is that what you think? Is that what you think? Is that what you think? I think it’s radical and I think it’s insane! And I don’t respect everything that you say. But to say something like that to myself and a lot of my colleagues is way out of line. It’s way out of line. It’s way out of line!”

Tlaib screamed hysterically as Donalds spoke.

“Free DC! Free DC! And make sure you vote with your own voting card,” she said after Donalds stopped talking. “Don’t be giving it to somebody else.”

President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard and took other measures to clamp down on crime in the nation’s capital in August, with violent crimes plunging.

Former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine on Monday’s “The Morning Meeting” called on his party to admit it made a mistake by labeling Trump a “fascist” following the assassination of Kirk.

“[T]he party should not call Trump Hitler, should not say he’s a fascist. One, it’s bad politics. Two, it’s just not true. Right? It is simply not the case,” Turrentine said. “And I think that whenever a bad thing happens, parties need to call out in real time, ‘This is not acceptable.’ And I wish that one of our 2028-ers would come out and be more explicit.”
