GREATER AKRON — The high school football playoffs are underway. A few area teams competed in week one playoff games while Revere, Highland, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Walsh Jesuit and Archbishop Hoban had a first-round bye. Norton 63, Edgewood 13 Norton continued to win in blowout fashion, dominating Edgewood 63-13. Norton remains undefeated except for its forfeit loss due to illness handed down by the Ohio Athletic Association in week one. The run game lifted Norton over Edgewood as Jason Beverly ran for 186 yards on 14 carries and had four touchdowns. Markus Browns also ran for 205 yards on 13 carries and had two touchdowns. Also, Trey Kersten ran for 98 yards on five carries and had a touchdown. Kresten was 4-of-8 passing for 90 yards and threw two touchdowns to Buddy Willig. Norton will travel to face West Branch High School Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. St. Marys Memorial 36, Copley 34 In a close matchup, St. Marys Memorial ended Copley’s playoff run. The Indians took a 21-14 lead at halftime, but were not able to hang on. Copley’s Anderson Madden threw for 342 yards in the game as Andrew McKnight caught 10 passes for 256 yards and scored four touchdowns. Rhalachai Childs also scored a touchdown for Copley in the game. The Indians finish the season 7-4.
