Explore North Augusta is now an app. With a trolley tracker. The city launched a mobile version of its tourism site this month, just in time for Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee and after having teased it this summer. The ENA app if free to download for both Android and iPhone and makes for a handy option in getting to know North Augusta, no matter if you live here or are just wanting to explore it a bit. Buttons for North Augusta’s big events; its historical, cultural and recreational offerings; and its business scene fill the main screen, while the bottom navigation bar has options for the community events calendar, trolley tracker and North Augusta city government page (and from this last, a calendar of City Council and other public meetings, with their posted agendas). That direct ink to government business is an add-on from the regular Explore North Augusta website. So, too, is a new mapping function for city parks. One quick media download puts 18 parks at your fingertips, each one with a pop-up description and photos to make your decision on where to go a little easier. And you get a little hint before even tapping on one of the markers: each marker has a symbol that tells you at a glance if the park is a nature park, a playground or has basketball courts on site. The Greeneway actually has its own designated map, and on this one the little marker symbols tell you if there’s trailhead parking or public restrooms available.
