The second episode of Switching Stages comes after Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young and Grammy-nominated rapper Quavo spent some time sharing nostalgic stories of growing up in Atlanta. The two stars traded skills from the basketball court to the recording studio, with their studio session laying the foundation for Trae’s rap debut in the duo’s new record “Where I Stay” with 2 Chainz. “Music and sports have always shared a powerful connection — an energy that fuels artists and athletes alike to perform on the biggest stages,” said Hannah Karp, Editor-in-Chief of Billboard. “With Switching Stages, we’re pulling back the curtain and inviting fans to witness that magic in a totally new way.” Jenna Klein, Global VP of Brand and Athlete Strategy at The Players’ Tribune, added her own statement about the “human side” of both of these industries. “The Players’ Tribune exists to showcase the human side of the world’s top athletes, offering fans an in-depth view of the person off-the-court and this partnership with Billboard is a perfect example of that concept in practice,” Klein said in a statement. “We are thrilled to bring together the world’s best players and musicians to give fans entertaining content that also provides a closer look at the connectivity between sport and music, educating both the interviewees and fans of the respective disciplines, along the way.” Check out the latest episode of Switching Stages below.
