Nomads, Silver step up preps for CAF tourneys

Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers have stepped up preparations for their Confederation of African Football (CAF) preliminary assignments this week.

The Nomads face Botswana outfit Jwaneng Galaxy in the preliminary round first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe this Sunday.

On the other hand, the Bankers travel to Mauritius where they will take on Elgeco Plus at the same stage in the CAF Champions League also on Sunday.

In an interview yester day Wanderers CEO Panganeni Ndovi said the team will depart for the capital city later today after the players and technical staff cast their votes in the general election.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Nomads’ match hit the market yesterday.

A statement from the Nomads said tickets are being sold in Blantyre and Lilongwe.

A standard ticket is selling at K8 000, VIP K25 000, corporate box K300 000 and car pass is at K2 000.

In Blantyre, the tickets are being sold at Wanderers Club along Lali Lubani Road in Chichiri while in Lilongwe, they can be accessed at Kafoteka Puma, Area 18 Puma, Area 23 Puma, Likuni Engen, Blue Waves City Centre Puma, Walkers Total, Kawale Engen, Maula Puma and Mbowe Puma service stations.

The tickets can also be bought at Aero Lounge in Airwing, Bingu National Stadium, Acres Bar at Gateway Mall and M’bayas Shop in Area 25, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, the club’s brands and marketing manager Greyson Chpita has reiterated that there will be no ticket sales at the stadium on match day.

“In addition, we are also opening up space for organisations, companies, and individuals who would like to advertise their goods and services during the game through perimeter advertising, in-stands promotions and within the fence of the stadium,” he said.

On the other hand, Silver CEO Patrick Chimimba has said the Reserve Bank of Malawi-sponsored side will depart for Mauritius on Thursday and arrive in the early hours of Friday ahead of the match on Sunday.

The Bankers have been in camp since last week and are undergoing full-time training.

Coach Peter ‘Shoes’ Mgangira yesterday said their preparations are going on well.
