Nobody Wants This

Netflix's hit rom-com, Nobody Wants This, returns for season 2, packed with even more lovable characters that help shape Joanne and Noah's love story. Early in their careers, both Adam Brody and Kristen Bell starred in teen dramas, and two decades later, they bring the same endearing energy to Netflix's charming romantic comedy Nobody Wants This. The first season depicts the honeymoon phase of their relationship, during which they fall deeply in love with each other. They struggle to bridge the gap between their two worlds, as she's an agnostic sex podcaster and he's a rabbi. However, Noah ultimately chooses to stay with Joanne, even if it threatens his career. However, Noah and Joanne will face even more relationship challenges as they move out of the honeymoon phase in Nobody Wants This season 2. Luckily, they will be surrounded by other lovable characters who (mostly) want to see them succeed as a couple. Kristen Bell As Joanne Active since: 1998 (uncredited) and 2001 (credited) Actor: Emmy-nominated actress Kristen Bellgot her big break when she took on the lead role in CW's Veronica Mars, which she played from 2004 to 2006, returning for the revivalin 2019. Her career boomed after Veronica Mars, allowing her to appear in shows and movies across many different genres, including Disney animated movies like Frozen and Zootopia. Not only is she an incredible actress, but she has also garnered accolades. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019. She won the Saturn Award for Best Actress on TV for Veronica Mars. Plus, she was nominated for many awards for Nobody Wants This, including Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes and the Satellite Awards. Notable Movies & TV Shows: Character: Nobody Wants This' Joanne is an agnostic podcaster in her 40s who hosts a podcast about romance and sex alongside her sister Morgan. She falls in love with a young, attractive rabbi named Noah, and they have to navigate the challenges of an interfaith relationship. While she's open to learning about Judaism, she reveals at the end of Nobody Wants This season 1 that she is not ready to convert, and she never may be. Adam Brody As Noah Roklov Active Since: 1999 Actor: Adam Brody's big break in Hollywood came when he played teen heartthrob Seth Cohen in The O.C., starting in 2004. He received 4 Teen Choice Awards for this role. However, he has gained recognition retroactively for his earlier role as Dave Rygalski in Gilmore Girls. Across the years, Brody has taken part in the action, horror, and superhero genres. Nobody Wants This is one of Adam Brody's most praised and awarded roles since The O.C. The actor won Best Actor in a Comedy Series at the Critics' Choice Television Awards. He was also nominated for a SAG Award, Satellite Award, and Emmy Award. Notable Movies & TV Shows: Character: Throughout Nobody Wants This, Noah Roklov is a charming, funny, sweet rabbi who bridges the gap between the secular world's norms and Jewish culture. He immediately falls for Joanne, but he struggles with the idea of being in a relationship with a non-Jewish woman. However, at the end of Nobody Wants This season 1, he chooses Joanne over his dream job of Head Rabbi. Justine Lupe As Morgan Active Since: 2011 Actor: Justine Lupe had an unusual path to fame, as she didn't have a single show that gave her a "big break." Instead, from 2017 to 2023, Lupe appeared in three shows at the same time that grew her popularity – Mr. Mercedes, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Succession. Her role as Willa Ferreyra in Succession brought her significant notoriety, even if it wasn't a traditional big break. Notable Movies & TV Shows: Character: Morgan is Joanne's sister and podcast co-host in Nobody Wants This. Joanne and Morgan have a close relationship, but they often underestimate each other and push each other's buttons. Throughout the first season, Morgan develops a friendship with Sasha, Noah's brother. However, they keep it secret because Sasha fears his wife's reaction to their closeness. Timothy Simons as Sasha Roklov Active Since: 2008 Actor: Timothy Simons grew to fame in 2012 when he was cast as Jonah Ryan in the political satire show Veep. Simons and the rest of the Veep cast gained SAG nominations for Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series every year from 2014 to 2017. Luckily, they finally won the award in 2018, which was well deserved. Notable Movies & TV Shows: Character: Sasha Roklov, from Nobody Wants This, is Noah's brother, Esther's husband, and Miriam's father. He treats Esther more like his mom, expecting her to do everything for him. Throughout the first season, Sasha develops a close friendship with Morgan, and his wife finds out in the season finale, setting up a conflict for Nobody Wants This season 2. Jackie Tohn as Esther Roklov Active Since: 1994 Actor: Though she consistently acted from 1994 until the present day, Jackie Tohn didn't get her big break until she played Melanie Rosen in GLOW from 2017 to 2019. She and the rest of the GLOW cast were nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in both 2018 and 2019. However, she retroactively gained recognition for her role as DJ in the movie Sisters. Notable Movies & TV Shows: Character: In Nobody Wants This, Esther is the wife of Sasha, the sister-in-law of Noah, and the mother of Miriam. His most notable projects include Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2016-2019), The Resort (2022), and Jackpot! (2024). D'Arcy Carden as Ryann: Throughout Nobody Wants This, D'Arcy Carden plays Ryann, a member of Joanne's really close friend group who encourages her to convert to Judaism to stay with Noah.
