NMC tells medical colleges to disseminate, utilise ICMR’s Standard Treatment Workflows for doctor training

New Delhi- Through a public notice, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a directive to all medical colleges and institutions under its jurisdiction to actively support the dissemination and implementation of the Standard Treatment Workflows developed by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with the National Health Authority and the World Health Organization. In the notice, NMC has called for medical colleges to take necessary steps to ensure the effective training of undergraduates, postgraduates, and practicing physicians. This includes integrating the STWs into educational programs and conducting nationwide training sessions for primary healthcare physicians. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) developed 157 Standard Treatment Workflows (STWs) across 28 specialties in order to have a standard of care for the Indian Public Health Care System.On this, ICMR has initiated nation-wide training sessions for the primary healthcare physicians for the dissemination and implementation of these STWs. Therefore, all the Medical Colleges / Institutions within the domain of NMC are hereby requested to take necessary steps for future training sessions and the effective dissemination and utilisation of these STWs among undergraduates, postgraduates and physicians.Also Read: NMC issues advisory for medical colleges on rabies managementThe 28 specialities wherein 157 STWs have been developed mentioned below.
