NMC approves 50 more MBBS seats at Tripura Medical College

Tripura: To boost medical education in Tripura, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently approved 50 additional MBBS seats for Tripura Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Agartala. Currently, the total admissions intake at the college are 100; with this expansion, the college admissions will increase to 150. This brings the total number of MBBS seats in Agartala to 450.This expansion is expected to ease competition for aspiring medical students and help address the growing demand for healthcare professionals in the region.According to a recent PTI report, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said the National Medical Commission (NMC) has sanctioned 50 additional MBBS seats for Tripura Medical College (TMC) and Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital, Agartala."This marks a major step forward in Tripura's efforts to expand medical education and improve healthcare access," Saha said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.Also Read: NMC nod to 62 more PG medical seats in Odisha GMCsOn this, the Chief Minister, Dr Manik Saha, hailed the development as a "remarkable milestone" in Tripura's ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and educational capacity. He said, “In the last three years, we have achieved a record addition of 225 MBBS seats in the state. This reflects our unwavering commitment to improving medical education and ensuring better healthcare access for our citizens”.Expressing gratitude to national leadership, the Chief Minister further added, "My sincere thanks to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Hon'ble Union Health Minister Shri J.P.
