The National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (NITK) at Surathkal celebrated National Unity Day—Rashtriya Ekta Diwas—on Friday, October 31 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. As directed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, NITK-Surathkal observed Unity Week from October 25 to 31, organising a series of events to promote unity and solidarity within the campus community. On October 31, the institute hosted a Unity Run and Unity Pledge as part of the concluding day’s activities. The Unity Run saw enthusiastic participation from over 700 individuals—including functionaries, staff, and students—who came together to support the cause of national unity. During the Unity Pledge, participants pledged to uphold the unity, integrity and security of the nation. They expressed their resolve to support national integration and to foster a spirit of harmonious coexistence and brotherhood.
