Nintendo wants Mario to live 100 years but hasn’t given him any Switch 2 games

Nintendo has been celebrating the Super Mario Bros' 40-year anniversary by doing basically nothing at all. The most recent Nintendo Direct (not the Kirby one) that came out around Mario's birthday was super hyped up by fanboys who believed there'd be news of a Mario game for the Switch 2. Instead, we got old games and information about the cringe Illumination movie franchise. Neat. You can't convince me the Switch 2 was a good launch. Nintendo wants to make Mario their corporate slave for at least 60 more years Mario creator Shigeru Miamoto and Super Mario World director Takashi Tezuka recently discussed Mario's future within a Nintendo Museum book focused on the 40th anniversary. Initially reported by VGC, we learned that they said: "One might think it would be a miracle if Mario was still here after 100 years, since we make things while not knowing when our players may get bored with them." However, Miyamoto said that Mario "constantly evolves" with Nintendo's new technology. "Now we're working in visual fields like movies, but I want to make sure we keep it interactive and digital. As long as we don't forget Mario's prime point - running and jumping - as we add new things, I think Mario will be with us for a long time to come." So... Where are the games then?? Right now, the only Mario things we have to look forward to is a remaster of Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2, the Switch 2 Edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the future Super Mario Bros. Galaxy Movie, and Mario Tennis Fever? We're not gonna make it another year at this rate, let alone until Mario is begging to be shot out back at 100 years old. Honestly, Miamoto and Tezuka are highly respected in the gaming world and have done so much to innovate the industry and how we game. I really hope their vision comes true and we keep getting unique Mario games on the Switch 2 and beyond. But can we hurry it up? I don't think I can stand another Direct about ports and overpriced Amiibos.
