Nijukti Mela in Odisha: CM distributes appointment letters to 1686 new recruits of 7 departments

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday distributed appointment letters to a total of 1686 new recruits of 7 departments of the State government.

Majhi handed over the joining letters to the selected candidates during a state-level ‘Nijukti Mela’ held at the Exhibition Ground in Unit 3 of the state capital city.

Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department, Finance Department, Water Resources Department, Law Department, Fish and Livestock Department, Health and Family Welfare Department and Skill Development and Technical Education Department are the seven departments to which the 1686 candidates were recruited.

Of the total 1686 selected candidates, the Health and Family Welfare Department had the highest appointments with 982, followed by the Water Resources Department with 413 and Skill Development and Technical Education Department with 136.

Likewise, 61 were recruited in Finance Department, 37 in Law Department, 34 in Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department and 23 in Fish and Livestock Department./

In his address to the new joiners, the Chief Minister advised them to work with all dedication and sincerity for the people and the development of the state.

Majhi also advised them to refrain themselves from getting involved in corruptions as the state government has been following the principle of zero tolerance against corruption. He also gave the example of recently arrested OAS Officer Aswini Kumar Panda.

“He (Aswini Kumar Panda) was expected to remain engaged in service. The government was expected to be proud of him. However, he has been arrested on corruption charges. This is like a warning to everyone. IAS Dhiman Chakma also went to jail for corruption. Everyone should be careful as it is natural to get punishment for corruption. Our government will continue to adopt the zero tolerance,” said the CM.

The CM also highlighted the government’s focus on employment generation, stating that in the last 15 months, 11 recruitment fairs have provided 30,032 government jobs, with a target to fill 65,000 posts within the first two years. “By June 2026, another 40,000 government jobs will be filled. In total, 1,07,926 employment opportunities have been created in government and private sectors combined,” he announced.
