In a historic milestone for Nigeria’s renewable energy sector, Levene Photovoltaic Technologies, a key partner of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has successfully exported locally manufactured solar panels to Accra, Ghana.
This groundbreaking achievement, the first of its kind for Nigeria, positions the country as an emerging leader in regional clean energy production and underscores the Tinubu administration’s commitment to reducing reliance on imported solar technology.
The export highlights Nigeria’s rapidly expanding solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing capacity, which has surged from 120MW to 650MW under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
According to the REA, this growth reflects strategic policy support, targeted investments, and private sector resilience, aligning with the administration’s vision to establish Nigeria as a hub for sustainable energy solutions in Africa and beyond.“
This is a proud moment for Nigeria,” an REA spokesperson stated. “The export of solar panels demonstrates our ability to not only produce and deploy clean energy technologies domestically but also to compete in the global market.”
The milestone strengthens Nigeria’s role in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development, while fostering regional collaboration in the fight against climate change.
Levene Photovoltaic’s achievement is a testament to Nigeria’s growing expertise in renewable energy manufacturing.
As the country continues to scale up its clean energy infrastructure, this export marks a significant step toward economic diversification and leadership in the global transition to sustainable energy.
