The Niger State Government has pledged N5 billion for the construction of classrooms and hostels aimed at revitalising the aviation mini campus located at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made this announcement during a visit from the management team of the Nigerian College of Aviation, Zaria, to the airport.

He emphasised that the project, once completed, will significantly reduce travel expenses for families sending their children abroad for aviation-related studies.

Governor Bago expressed gratitude to the visiting team and reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport into a prominent hub for both aviation and agriculture.

During the visit, Dr. Danjuma Adamu Ismail, the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Zaria, lauded the governor for his efforts in modernising the airport to meet global standards.

He highlighted the long-standing partnership between the College and the Niger State government, which has previously facilitated the establishment of a mini campus at the airport and the implementation of various programs.

Ismail expressed that the revival of the campus would not only bolster the collaboration with the state government but also have a profound impact in terms of personnel training and expertise in the agro-aviation sector.

Founded in 1964, the College of Aviation has grown to encompass six schools, including those focused on flight training, air traffic control, aeronautical telecommunications engineering, airport emergency training, and Aircraft Aviation Management.

The visiting team was also given a tour of the aviation fuel depot and housing facilities at the airport. Governor Umaru Bago announced plans to demolish existing housing units to make way for improved housing solutions to alleviate the local housing deficit.
