Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon want to bring Hollywood productions to Nashville amid the steady decline in TV and film productions being shot in Los Angeles.
Nicole has lived in Tennessee since 2008 with her husband, country music star Keith Urban. Reese, 49, moved there in 2012. During a panel discussion at the Nashville Film Festival, Nicole revealed her plans to expand showbiz culture to the city.
“I’ll be bringing more and more production here,” the 58-year-old actress started.
“Reese Witherspoon lives here too, and she’s one of my best besties. I can’t say that we will be bringing ‘Big Little Lies’ here,” she joked, referring to the upcoming third season of the hit HBO show. “That’s all got to go where it is. But in terms of, you know, there is so much room here for production.”
She added, “The crews are fantastic and the actors, and the people, all ofI feel that it’s taking off and will continue to take off, so off we go. Come on, Tennessee, we’ve got this.”
Kidman and Witherspoon could surely take the city by storm together. In fact, Nicole has already filmed season one of her crime series, “Scarpetta,” in Nashville and confirmed that she is “thrilled” it has received the greenlight to start production for season two.
The Oscar winner described the city as a place that “inspires so much creativity.”
“My favorite thing is the people,” Nicole explained. “I love the Nashville people because they embraced me two decades ago and they keep making it possible for our family to have the most beautiful life here.”
