Nico Rosberg Exposes ‘Testament’ of Lewis Hamilton’s Struggles After Italian GP

Lewis Hamilton seems to be past his peak in Formula 1. The seven-time world champion joined Ferrari with high hopes this year to rediscover his mojo. Unfortunately, Hamilton has struggled so far, though, he did make some progress at the Italian GP. Now, the Briton’s former teammate and rival Nico Rosberg has highlighted that even the recent improvements show signs of past issues.

The seven-time world champion has had difficulties from the start of the season, even failing to adapt to switch settings in Ferrari cars. Lewis Hamilton had not grabbed a single podium finish, let alone a race victory. However, the 40-year-old did win the sprint race in China. Hamilton even called himself ‘absolutely useless’ during the Hungarian GP weekend.

The Italian GP was a better weekend for Lewis Hamilton. The British driver managed to make some good recovery in the race after starting with a five-place grid drop. Hamilton finished in P6, not far from his teammate Charles Leclerc. Leclerc crossed the finish line in fourth place.

Nico Rosberg was glad to see his former teammate have a good weekend in Monza. The German pointed out that Lewis Hamilton showed the glimpses of brilliance he was known for during the race.

It was nice to see Lewis having a really solid weekend, feeling comfortable in the car, being quick at times, showing flashes of his brilliance. I think that was an important weekend for him.

However, Rosberg asserted that this actually showed how bad things have been from the start of the season. The 2016 F1 champion highlighted that Lewis Hamilton has had so many issues recently, that even when he comes close to Leclerc, it seems to be a good race.

But at the same time, it’s a testament to how bad it was before, that just by him being close to Charles, we’re all like saying, ‘Oh, this is a great weekend’, because so many mistakes before and troubles with pace also. But anyway, good to see him have a good one, and let’s hope he can carry it forward. That would be important for him.

Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari ‘under pressure’ after Italian GP

The Italian GP is Scuderia Ferrari’s home race. The Monza track is filled with thousands of Tifosi who come to see the Prancing Horse take victory. Unfortunately, this year was nothing short of a disappointment to Ferrari fans. Neither Lewis Hamilton nor Charles Leclerc even had a chance of standing on the podium.
