Nick Sirianni addresses Eagles ignoring 'noise' after win over Vikings

After the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a second straight loss to fall to 4-2 on the season, a report revealed that there was a "concern" among some Philadelphia players that the club's campaign was "starting to feel like the 2023 meltdown all over again." The 2025 Eagles then improved to 5-2 via a 28-22 win at the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Following that victory, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke with Albert Breerof Sports Illustrated about how Sirianni and his players have dealt with chatter that has hovered over the club throughout the fall. Nick Sirianni not letting noise distract Eagles "You’re not in control of what anyone thinks," Sirianni explained. "You are only in control of what you think. All [the noise] does is distract you from getting better, finding ways to win and finding ways to get better. What distracts you? If that’s something that distracts you, then do whatever you need to block it out." It's worth noting that not all of that noise came from the outside. After the Eagles suffered a surprising 34-17 defeat at the New York Giants on Oct. 9, Philadelphia right tackle Lane Johnson made it known he felt the defending Super Bowl champions had been "very predictable" on offense during some games. Additionally, wide receiver A.J. Brown became the subject of trade rumors amid his dissatisfaction with his role in the offense. "You can’t let anything zap your joy or steal your focus," Sirianni continued. "I think you see that in the best teams. They are mentally focused to get better every single week. They are mentally focused on the process every single week. Not necessarily the things they can’t control." Nick Sirianni not afraid to lean on Eagles passing attack While Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley was largely a non-factor in Sunday's win, Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts finished the game with a perfect passer rating. Brown and fellow wide receiver DeVonta Smith recorded a combined 13 receptions for 304 yards and three touchdowns at Minnesota's U.S. Bank Stadium. "We’ve always been able to lean on our players, so we can get it done multiple ways," Sirianni told Breer. "That’s what good teams do. The Super Bowl last year, we didn’t run a lot but we were able to throw a lot. And we were able to win the game. It’s important to be balanced, and that’s what we are."
