Priyanka Chopra Jonas, fondly known as the “desi girl,” may live abroad, but her deep connection to Indian culture remains unshaken. This Diwali, while celebrating in London, she shared an interesting revelation that even her husband Nick Jonas can’t stop mentioning. The film in question is Dil Dhadakne Do — the Bollywood movie Nick often recommends to anyone who hasn’t experienced Indian cinema. In an interview with British Vogue, Priyanka said that most of her friends who are new to Bollywood have watched this film and loved it. She added, “Nick recommends one of my films to people who haven’t seen a Bollywood movie or don’t know much about it. Nick loves Dil Dhadakne Do, and most of my friends who haven’t seen Bollywood movies love it too.” Priyanka believes it’s the perfect film to introduce international audiences to the charm and diversity of Indian storytelling. The actress also spoke about what Diwali means to her and why she continues to celebrate it with devotion even while living abroad. “For me, Diwali symbolises unity and hope. It brings joy because it represents the victory of good over evil. In a world that often feels uncertain, I find that very comforting,” she said. Priyanka ensures that her Diwali celebrations remain rooted in tradition, no matter where she is. At her home in London, she has a beautifully maintained temple where she performs puja, inviting her foreign friends to join in the rituals. She also gifts Indian clothes to her friends and has recently introduced them to Indian pickles, sharing small but meaningful parts of her culture. For Priyanka, Diwali is more than a festival, it is a reminder of light, hope and the enduring bond with one’s roots.
