Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a brutal arm injury during the fourth quarter of the team’s game against the Seahawks on Monday (AEDT). Daniels, with the game already well out of hand, was sacked at the Seahawks’ 4-yard line on the play by Seattle linebacker Drake Thomas. As Daniels tried to brace himself with his left – and non-throwing – arm, his elbow snapped in the wrong direction and was almost immediately dislocated. Head coach Dan Quinn called it a “left elbow injury” and did not have more details shortly after the game ended. Daniels’ teammates immediately knelt down around him in a sombre scene at Northwest Stadium. “It’s really tough to see him go down. You just want him to stay positive,” Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner said. “You don’t know what the result is. You just speak a lot of positivity into existence. He’s a very positive person so we’re just praying for the best.” Watch the star’s horror injury in the video player above Daniels’ arm bent the wrong way after he tried to brace. (AP Photo/Nick Wass) The star quarterback left the field under his own power with his arm in an air cast. But fans watching on were left fuming he was still in the game. The Commanders were trailing 38-7 at the time with less than eight minutes on the clock in the fourth quarter. NFL journalist Chad Ryan wrote on X: “Why was Jayden Daniels still in the game. Fire everyone. F*** this.” Presenter Emmanuel Acho wrote: “I don’t like throwing out the word negligent often, but what the Washington Commanders have done with Jayden Daniels this season has been grossly irresponsible.” Nick D’Agostino wrote: “What a disaster for Jayden Daniels and the Commanders! This is the kind of preventable, heartbreaking injury, that could ruin a career.” Fade Away Media added: “Prayers for Jayden Daniels. This was absolutely one of the worst injuries I ever seen man.” A fourth posted: “The score was 38–7, why was Jayden Daniels even in the game?” Copied URL to clipboard Jayden Daniels runs in for touchdown The Commanders QB got his team on the board with a one-yard run Commanders coach Dan Quinn was asked after the game if he had considered not sending Daniels out in the fourth quarter. “Yeah, not in that space. Obviously, in hindsight, you don’t want to think that way where an injury could take place,” Quinn said. “Obviously, we were more conservative in that spot to run and hand off and not have reads to go. But just the end result, obviously I’m bummed,” Quinn said. Daniels ran the ball for 51 yards on 10 carries in his first game back after missing three matches with a hamstring injury and a sprained left knee. “I think that’s his nature. He wants to be aggressive and make plays,” Quinn said. “He’s got confidence in the other players. I do know that. So it’s not like, ‘I have to do more, I have to do things that are outside of playing in that way.’ We also have to have everybody. Injuries happen and you hate it.” More Coverage Melbourne Cup turned on its head Mitch Lewis Power couples buy NRL team in huge move Martin Gabor Daniels completed 16-of-22 passes for 153 yards and one interception in the game. Marcus Mariota entered the game, which Seattle won 38-15. The Commanders fell to a disappointing 3-6 after reaching the playoffs last season.
