NFL releases first part of series following Alabama school’s historic football losing streak

A documentary series following an Alabama school’s quest to snap a historic losing streak has released the first episode. NFL Films and Gatorade posted the first part of its video series following Columbia High School’s quest to snap a historic losing streak on YouTube on Tuesday after following the program throughout its 2025 season. The series, titled “All the Reasons Not to Quit – The Columbia HS Story,” was announced before the season began as a five-part series that would be uploaded to YouTube with hopes of moving to Netflix. Along with the documentary series, Gatorade provided access to Gatorade Sports Science Institute experts, sideline equipment, drinks and more throughout the season in conjunction with NFL Films. The first episode can be viewed here: Columbia finished the season 0-10 in head coach Sammie Coates’ first season and extended its losing streak to 101 straight games, but had a handful of close calls this season. The Eagles lost 21-10 to Huffman (2-8) and dropped a 28-24 matchup against East Lawrence after leading in the third quarter. Columbia also led Hazel Green 8-7 at halftime in the season finale before losing 34-8. Columbia’s last win came on Oct. 16, 2015, when the Eagles beat Ardmore 34-16 in a road matchup. Columbia went 2-8 that season under Chris Hancock, who is now the head coach at Madison County. Coates told AL.com after the loss to Hazel Green to end the season that it “looks like” he’ll be returning as head coach next season at Columbia.
