NFL legend Tom Brady was in San Francisco on Sunday to call Fox’s NFL Game of the Week between the 49ers and the Rams. Brady is in his second season up in the booth alongside Kevin Burkhardt. He continues to be around the NFL despite retiring from his playing career after the 2022 season. Brady entered the league as a player in 2000 and played 23 seasons in the league. During his first seven years, Paul Tagliabue served as the commissioner. Roger Goodell took over as the commissioner in 2006 and continues to hold that role. Tagliabue passed away on Sunday at the age of 84 due to congestive heart failure complicated by Parkinson’s disease. After the news, Brady took to social media to share a message about Tagliabue. “Thank you for your contributions to our amazing game RIP,” Brady said. Tagliabue was responsible for expanding the NFL from 28 teams to 32. He added the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995, the Cleveland Browns in 1999 (re-established) and the Houston Texans in 2002. Tagliabue was also responsible for launching NFL Europe, agreeing to several collective bargaining agreements with the NFLPA and long-term television contracts with ESPN, ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.
