Tom Brady had one of, if not the greatest, NFL careers of all time. He holds the record for most Super Bowl victories as a player with seven, as he made 15 Pro Bowl appearances, three First Team All-Pro selections and won three AP NFL MVP awards in his 23 years in the league. Brady spent his first 20 seasons with the New England Patriots and the final three with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Across those two teams, Brady started an NFL-record 333 games at quarterback, throwing for 89,214 yards and 649 touchdowns, which are both the most ever. The 48-year-old retired from playing in 2023 and found other ways to stay around the sport. Brady became Fox’s main analyst for NFL games starting in the 2024 NFL season, as he signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with the network. He also bought a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders franchise in October 2024, becoming a part-owner of the team. While Brady has made headlines throughout his life because of his involvement in football, whether that be as a player, analyst or minority owner, he was in the news on Tuesday for something completely away from the sport. Brady announced, along with Colossal Biosciences, a biotech company in which he is invested, that his dog, Junie, is a clone of his late dog, Lua, who died in 2023, according to People Magazine’s Bailey Richards. The statement that Brady made said that he collected blood from Lua, a pit bull mix, before her death, and Colossal used that to create Junie, a replica of his previous furry friend. “I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family,” Brady said, per Richards. “A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed.” Colossal, which Brady invested in after the company launched in 2021, also announced that it acquired another biotech company, Viagen Pets and Equine. Viagen has been known for cloning dogs of celebrities in recent years. This includes Barbara Streisand and Paris Hilton’s dogs.
