New Orleans Saints legendary quarterback Drew Brees is joining Fox Sports as an NFL game analyst, according to a report from The Athletic. Brees, 46, will make his Fox broadcasting debut on Sunday, Nov. 16, though it hasn’t been announced which game he will be assigned to call. He is expected to partner with play-by-play announcer Adam Amin, per The Athletic. The terms of his contract with Fox remain unclear, but the agreement is expected to be for multiple years. In teaming with Amin, Brees is seen as a potential replacement for Fox Sports analyst and former NFL QB Mark Sanchez, who has been off-air for more than a month after he was charged with felony battery in October. Sanchez, 38, was also charged with battery resulting in a serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony, along with misdemeanor charges of battery with injury, public intoxication, and unlawful entry of a vehicle after a dispute with a truck driver over a parking spot, according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Sanchez was also charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony, MCPO announced. If found guilty, he faces a potential sentence of one to six years in prison. Brees previously served as a broadcaster on NBC’s “Football Night in America” for the 2021 NFL season. Prior to his agreement with Fox, Brees joined ESPN in September as a weekly contributor on the network’s popular sports debate show, “First Take.” His agreement with ESPN is non-exclusive, which allows him to broadcast for the NFL’s Christmas Day games on Netflix, per BSM. Brees played 20 seasons in the NFL from 2001-20, retiring as one of the most decorated players in league history. He ranks second in NFL history in career passing yards (80,358), completions (7,142) and touchdowns (571), all behind NFL legend and fellow Fox Sports analyst Tom Brady. Brees was named Super Bowl MVP when he led the Saints to win Super Bowl XLIV over the Indianapolis Colts, 31-17, in Feb. 2010.
