NFL insider weighs in on Saquon Barkley's groin injury amid Eagles' Bye week

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley exited Week 8's dominating 38-20 win over the New York Giants early with a groin injury. peaking with reporters after the win, Barkley downplayed any concern, saying he would’ve gone back in if the Eagles didn’t already have such a comfortable lead. “I’m good,” he said, via the broadcast. “We had a good lead, so they sat me down a little bit.” The Eagles officially entered their Bye week on Monday and won’t take the field again until Nov. 10. That gives them plenty of time to rest up, including Barkley.According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, there’s no reason for the team or fans to worry about his status moving forward. "Saquon Barkley, you saw the big run there, he had another big day for the Philadelphia Eagles," Rapoport said during Good Morning Football. "He left the game with a groin injury. My understanding is, had the game been a little closer, it is likely Saquon would have returned. That is an indication that is not a major injury and really not something to worry about for the Philadelphia Eagles... Saquon, you would think, would be OK with that groin injury." Eagles finally get their run game going Heading into Week 8, the Eagles had trouble finding any consistency on the ground. That changed in a big way when Barkley and Tank Bigsby nearly combined for over 250 yards. Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo shared his thoughts on what might’ve sparked the turnaround. "I think when you look through the whole season up until this point, we’ve been close on a few things, and then just continue to work in the direction of knowing we want to run the ball and compliment that with the other things that we have going on," Patullo said. "It was just a matter of time. The guys did a really, really good job of executing and doing everything they can to prepare for the different looks we might get. It was good. It was a good thing to have it go the way it went and build to this point. We knew we were really, really close and it was exciting to see. It adds another element to our offense." Overall, the Eagles' offense appeared to be complete. The hope now is that it continues when they return from their Bye.
