NFL Insider Teases Potential Eagles' AJ Brown Trade

The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have a 6-2 record, and after some shaky performances in September and early October, they defeated the New York Giants 38-20 on Sunday. Their defense has improved, and their passing attack is also showing signs of getting better. Since early this season, there have been rumors that A.J. Brown, their most gifted wide receiver, has wanted to be traded and that he has been unhappy about how he has been utilized in coach Nick Sirianni’s offense. But over the last two games, he has posted 201 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and versus New York, he had 121 yards on just four receptions. Yet the trade speculation surrounding Brown has continued, and with the NFL’s Nov. 4 trade deadline rapidly approaching, insider Mike Florio teased a possible trade that would reunite Brown with a former coach. “Could the Eagles engage in a little addition by subtraction by moving on from A.J. Brown, starting with the New England Patriots coached by the man who was his head coach in Tennessee [Mike Vrabel],” Florio said. “It’s an interesting thing to watch as the trade deadline moves closer.” AJ Brown maybe available at the deadline? The Eagles traded a first and third-round draft pick for him prior to the 2022 season, and that move elevated them to contender status. EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY – OCTOBER 9: A.J. (Photo by Kevin Sabitus/Getty Images) He had 1,079 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games last season, and he has averaged well over 80 receiving yards a game in each of the previous three seasons. But so far this year, his targets, catch percentage and overall production are all below his usual standards. He has just 29 receptions in 51 targets, 395 yards and three touchdowns through seven games in 2025. Philly’s leading receiver right now is DeVonta Smith, who has 44 catches for 588 yards and two touchdowns. In fact, tight end Dallas Goedert has one more reception than Brown, despite being targeted 12 fewer times. But if Brown is that unhappy with his status on the team, perhaps moving him would be addition by subtraction, as Florio suggested. The Eagles are currently on their bye week, which will give them a chance to assess their overall situation and weigh the pros and cons of making such a big move.
