NFL Announces Punishment for Bills Star Before Chiefs Game

The Buffalo Bills are heading into a huge matchup against the rival Kansas City Chiefs at home on Sunday. Both teams need a win to stay near the top of their respective divisions. The Bills are 5-2 and coming off a dominant 40-9 win over the Carolina Panthers, while the Chiefs are 5-3 and coming off a 28-7 win over the Washington Commanders on "Monday Night Football." Ahead of the Bills-Chiefs matchup, the NFL has handed down a punishment to one Bills player for his actions during last weekend's Panthers game. Each week during the NFL's regular season, the league penalizes players for their actions in the previous week's games. The NFL states on their official website that these actions are "to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity, the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on a set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures." The incident happened 30 seconds into the second quarter. But the good news is that the fine will go to a good cause. According to the NFL, those fines are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to "support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game." Since 2011, $4 million per year has been utilized to support these worthy causes, according to research from the NFL. No Carolina Panthers players were fined for their actions in the Week 8 matchup. While the Bills play the Chiefs in Week 9, the 4-4 Panthers are slated to take on the 5-1-1 Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Nov. 2.
