Nexon Foundation Opens Jeonnam Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center in Mokpo

The Nexon Foundation has opened a new chapter for public pediatric rehabilitation medical services in the Jeonnam region. On the 3rd, Nexon (co-CEOs Kang Dae-hyeon and Kim Jeong-uk) announced that the Jeonnam Nexon Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center (Center Director Jeong Gwang-ik)—for which the Nexon Foundation (Chairman Kim Jung-wook) pledged ₩5 billion in construction funding—has officially opened. As the Jeonnam region’s first public pediatric medical facility, the Jeonnam Nexon Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center stands on Teotgol-ro in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, with one basement level and three above-ground floors (total floor area: 1,667.35㎡). Equipped with 20 beds, dedicated rehabilitation therapy rooms, and 170 units across 104 types of state-of-the-art rehabilitation devices, the center provides personalized services for children with disabilities, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. It will also run education and customized integrated programs to systematically support children’s recovery of daily living functions and their adaptation to society. Beyond its construction pledge, Nexon supported the creation of a warm, approachable hospital environment. Nexon Space, a Nexon subsidiary responsible for spatial asset management, assisted with overall facility design—covering interiors for patient and caregiver lounge areas—and created visual elements such as the hospital logo and interior/exterior signage. The opening ceremony was attended by key figures including Nexon Foundation Chairman Kim Jung-wook; Jaekyo Lee, CEO of NXC; Ji Jun-suk, CEO of Nexon Space; Jeong Gwang-seon, Director of the Jeollanam-do Health and Welfare Bureau; Cho Seok-hun, Deputy Mayor of Mokpo; Lee Seung-taek, Chairman of Mokpo Jungang Hospital; Lee Jeong-hee, Director of Mokpo Jungang Hospital; and Jeong Gwang-ik, Center Director of the Jeonnam Nexon Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center, who gathered to celebrate the first step for the region’s inaugural public pediatric medical facility. Nexon Foundation Chairman Kim Jung-wook said, “I hope the opening of the Jeonnam Nexon Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center becomes a starting point for delivering essential medical services to children with disabilities and their families in the region. We will continue a range of region-specific medical support initiatives to help ensure a healthy future for children and adolescents.” Center Director Jeong Gwang-ik said, “It is deeply meaningful that, with the center’s opening, children with disabilities and their families can now receive stable, specialized treatment. Together with the local community, we will strive to provide best-in-class rehabilitation services and make this a place that offers practical support and hope to patients and their families.” Meanwhile, driven by a strong commitment to children’s healthy futures, Nexon and the Nexon Foundation have supported the construction and opening of the Purme Foundation Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital (Korea’s first dedicated children’s rehabilitation hospital, opened in 2016), as well as the Daejeon–Sejong–Chungnam · Nexon-sponsored Public Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital and the Jeonnam Nexon Public Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center, all of which are now in operation. To expand specialized public pediatric rehabilitation services in the Yeongnam region, the foundation is also funding construction at Changwon Gyeongsang National University Hospital, continuing its efforts to strengthen pediatric medical infrastructure at key hubs nationwide.
