Viewer discretion is advised.*** A 33-year-old woman was arrested after a newborn baby was found dead at a bus shelter in Canada, according to authorities. Police in Longueuil, which is a city in Quebec, announced the news on social media. Authorities said they received a report on Monday morning around 6:30 about an abandoned baby. The baby was taken into care by ambulance on site and then transported to a hospital centre," via a translation, with authorities adding that the infant was later pronounced dead. Police didn't identify the woman by name, nor did they say if she was the child's mother. Authorities said investigators are evaluating the woman's mental and physical health. She has been taken care of by our police and the necessary support is being put in place for things to follow," police noted. "Additional details on the circumstances are currently being retained, for the purposes of the investigation." Citing police spokesperson Jacqueline Pierre, the (CBC) said the woman might face an infanticide charge. The reported that the area's ambulance service said the baby was naked and "very cold" when it was found, as well as still attached to the placenta. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
