New York Jets Win a Thriller Against the Cincinnati Bengals

The Jets pulled off their first win of 2025, rallying from 14 points down in the fourth quarter to stun the Bengals 39-38 at Paycor Stadium. And they did it in the most Jets way possible—with a trick play that would make your high school coach jealous. Breece Hall Takes Over When It Matters Most https://twitter.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1982538102758391954 Down 38-24 late in the fourth, most teams would’ve packed it in. Not these Jets. Running Back Breece Hall decided he’d had enough of the losing and put the team on his back. First, Hall ripped off a 27-yard touchdown run that gave New York some life. Then, with the game on the line and the ball at Cincinnati’s four-yard line, Offensive Coordinator Tanner Engstrand dialed up something special. The Jets pitched it to Hall on what looked like a standard sweep. But Hall had other plans. He pump-faked (because why not add some flair?), rolled to his right, and fired a perfect strike to Tight End Mason Taylor in the back of the end zone. Taylor, all 6-foot-5 of him, boxed out his defender like he was grabbing a rebound and hauled in the game-winner. It was beautiful. It was gutsy. It was exactly what this team needed. The Numbers Tell the Story Hall finished with an absolute monster game—133 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, plus that TD pass through the air. The Jets’ rushing attack, which has been MIA for most of the season, finally showed up with 254 yards as a team. That’s the kind of performance that can turn a season around. But let’s not act like this was some dominant wire-to-wire beatdown. The Bengals led 38-24 with under 10 minutes left. Cincinnati’s defense, which has been about as reliable as a weather forecast, completely fell apart when it mattered most. They gave up three straight touchdown drives in the fourth quarter. Three. Straight. What This Win Means for New York The Jets are no longer winless. That’s huge for a locker room that’s been through absolute hell this season. At 1-7, they’re still in rough shape, but at least they can say they won a game in 2025. More importantly, they showed some fight. They could’ve folded when they were down two scores late. Instead, they leaned on their running game and executed a perfect trick play when the moment called for it. Looking Ahead The Jets host the Bears next Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. It’s another chance to build some momentum and maybe—just maybe—string together a couple of wins before the season completely gets away from them. For now, though? Jets fans can finally exhale. They won a football game. It took eight weeks, a double-digit comeback, and a running back throwing a touchdown pass, but they got it done.
