Running Back Breece Hall decided he’d had enough of the losing and put the team on his back. First, Hall ripped off a 27-yard touchdown run that gave New York some life. Then, with the game on the line and the ball at Cincinnati’s four-yard line, Offensive Coordinator Tanner Engstrand dialed up something special. The Jets pitched it to Hall on what looked like a standard sweep. But Hall had other plans. He pump-faked (because why not add some flair?), rolled to his right, and fired a perfect strike to Tight End Mason Taylor in the back of the end zone. Taylor, all 6-foot-5 of him, boxed out his defender like he was grabbing a rebound and hauled in the game-winner. It was beautiful. It was gutsy. It was exactly what this team needed. The Numbers Tell the Story Hall finished with an absolute monster game—133 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, plus that TD pass through the air. The Jets’ rushing attack, which has been MIA for most of the season, finally showed up with 254 yards as a team. That’s the kind of performance that can turn a season around. But let’s not act like this was some dominant wire-to-wire beatdown. The Bengals led 38-24 with under 10 minutes left. Cincinnati’s defense, which has been about as reliable as a weather forecast, completely fell apart when it mattered most. They gave up three straight touchdown drives in the fourth quarter. Three.
