New Toll Collection: New toll tax will be imposed on Dwarka Expressway from today, relief at Kherki Daula; see new rates

Dwarka Expressway: Toll collection will begin at the Bijwasan toll plaza on the Dwarka Expressway on Sunday. New toll rates have also come into effect at the Kherki Daula toll plaza. Meanwhile, travel from Delhi and Gurugram via NH-48 to Delhi will be permitted. New Toll Collection: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will begin collecting tolls on the Dwarka Expressway starting November 9th at 8 a.m. The new rates have also come into effect at the Kherki Daula toll plaza in Gurugram. While the tolling has caused some concern among local residents, the monthly pass facility has brought significant relief to those living within a 20-kilometer radius. People traveling from Delhi and Gurugram to the airport via NH-48 will no longer have to pay tolls. The toll plaza near the airport has been closed since Sunday. Consequently, NHAI has increased the rates at the Kherki Daula toll plaza. Following the implementation of the new rates at the Kherki Daula toll plaza, residents of New Gurugram have begun protesting. Local residents allege that the government has been promising to remove the toll for the past six years, but the toll has not been removed. The current 19 percent to threefold increase in the Kherki Daula toll plaza rates is unfair to the people. Promises are being made about shifting the toll, but no concrete steps are being taken. Toll collection resumes after a year The NHAI will begin collecting tolls on the 10-kilometer stretch of the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram from 8 a.m. on Sunday. The Gurugram section was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024. For the past year, the NHAI had not been collecting tolls. Deepak Maini, Chairman of the Progressive Federation of Trade and Industry, said, “The government should immediately reverse its decision to increase toll rates. Facilities are not improving, and toll rates are rising. This is creating problems for industries. The government must make decisions that are in the best interests of entrepreneurs.” Read More: New Flight Service: Non-stop flight service between Delhi and China begins; check route and timetable
