PBS Masterpiece has revealed the US release date for its upcoming romantic Victorian-era period drama, The Forsytes. Inspired by Nobel prize-winning author John Galsworthy's Forsyte novels, The Forsytes is a story of ambition, betrayal, rivalry, desire, social hierarchy, romance, and wealth. It follows the titular stockbroking family as the next generation prepares to take over the Forsyte business and fortune. This isn't simply another remake of Galsworthy's classic story, however. Whereas 2002's The Forsyte Saga, starring Damien Lewis and Gina McKee, was a straightforward adaptation of Galsworthy's family epic, Channel 5's and PBS Masterpiece's The Forsytes is set before the events of the source material, providing audiences with a new perspective on this powerful, complex family. The Forsytes' first two episodes have already premiered on Channel 5 in the UK, where the series will continue to air weekly until November 24. While US audiences will have to wait a little longer, PBS Masterpiece has confirmed that the lavish costume drama will debut on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The Forsytes joins a growing list of British period dramas premiering on PBS Masterpiece in early 2026, including Miss Scarlet and All Creatures Great & Small, both of which will return for their respective sixth seasons. The Forsytes has already been renewed for a second season, and filming is currently underway on location in Bristol. Those familiar with fellow PBS Masterpiece period drama Poldark may recognize the name of The Forsytes' writer, Debbie Horsfield, who has penned all six episodes of The Forsytes' first season. The Forsytes' trailer, which you can watch below, debuted earlier this year and promises plenty of steamy romance, sibling rivalry, rich, lavish sets, and juicy drama. Eager British TV viewers will also undoubtedly recognize some familiar faces, including Flesh and Blood's Francesca Annis as Forsyte matriarch Ann, Doctor Who's Millie Gibson as Irene Heron, Poldark's Eleanor Tomlinson as Louisa Byrne, and Miss Scarlet's Tom Durant-Pritchard as Monty Dartie. The rest of the cast boasts even more recognizable talent, including Stephen Moyer (True Blood) as Jolyon Forsyte Senior, Danny Griffin (Fate: The Winx Saga) as Jo Forsyte Junior, Tuppence Middleton (Downton Abbey: A New Era) as Frances Forsyte, Jack Davenport (The Morning Show) as James Forsyte, and Joshua Orpin (Titans) as Soames Forsyte. For any fans of Bridgerton, Downton Abbey, The Gilded Age, and Poldark, The Forsytes is shaping up to be must-watch TV.
