New Rules: From train ticket booking to UPI, new rules will come into effect from October 1.

New rules from October 1st: Several major changes are coming to IRCTC’s online general ticket booking system from October 1, 2025, which could prove beneficial for the general public.

From October 1, 2025, several important rules will come into effect across the country, impacting the daily lives of every citizen. These include changes to railway ticket booking, digital payments, online gaming, and the National Pension System (NPS).

Train Ticket Booking Rules to Change

The biggest change is coming to railway ticket booking. From October 1, 2025, the first 15 minutes of general ticket booking on IRCTC will be reserved exclusively for passengers whose accounts are linked to Aadhaar and fully verified. This will make the ticket booking process more transparent and curb the arbitrary practices of ticket touts and agents. This rule will also help manage the surge in ticket bookings during peak travel seasons like festivals and wedding season. The rules for booking tickets at offline PRS counters will remain unchanged.

New Rule for Digital Payments

Significant improvements are also coming to the digital payments sector. From October 1, the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) has decided to discontinue the “request for payment” feature in UPI. This change aims to enhance user security and protect against online fraud and phishing. This feature will no longer be available in apps like Google Pay and PhonePe for requesting payments.

Changes to the Pension Scheme

A new multi-scheme framework will be implemented in the National Pension System (NPS), allowing non-government sector employees, corporate professionals, and gig workers to invest in multiple pension schemes using a single PAN number. This will give investors greater flexibility to choose the best options according to their needs and risk tolerance.

New Rules for Online Gaming

The online gaming industry will be subject to stricter regulations. The government has approved new legislation, which will come into effect on October 1. This will subject online gaming companies to stricter oversight to protect players from fraud and scams. These rules will make gaming safer and more transparent, and will also curb illegal money-based games.

Through all these changes, the government aims to ensure transparency and security for the public, thereby eliminating fraud and irregularities in all sectors.
