On Thursday, the Not One More movement organised a new protest in Skopje to express its revolt over the death of Rosica Koceva and many other femicides that, in its view, have seen improper action by institutions. Women in the country, as well as in the rest of the world, are not protected, participants noted. “Instead of being fearful as to who the next one will be, we’re here to say ‘not one more’”, it was added. The protest again saw participants demand changes to the Criminal Code, as well as ex officio prosecution of violence against women. It was also stated that the plan is for such gatherings to be held every Thursday. The same day, the Justice Ministry, stated that the latest draft-changes to the Code it was drawing up would enable persons responsible for domestic violence to be prosecuted ex officio, that is, they would face legal action even if a victim didn’t file a report. The draft-changes, it explained, should enter procedure at a Government and Parliament level after the local elections, while they’re expected to be part of the broader reform of the Criminal Code.
