New PNG DAC and operations centre set to enhance country’s border and security

A new PNG Digital Arrival Card and operations centre was launched today by the Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority to enhance the country’s border and security.

The PNG Digital Arrival Card (PNGDAC) replaces the traditional paper arrival card with a secure online platform, allowing passengers traveling to the country to complete their arrival card digitally up to 72 hours before boarding.

This system makes travel easier while giving border agencies access to accurate passenger information.

The Immigration Operations Command Centre (IOCC) will act as a central hub for immigration intelligence and risk assessments, receiving and analyzing passenger information in real-time.

The systems are designed to meet the international standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), making PNG’s borders globally aligned and future-ready.

“For the first time, PNG Immigration, PNG Customs, and the National Agriculture and Quarantine Inspection Authority (NAQIA) are integrated into a single information system, ensuring stronger border security, faster processing, and smarter facilitation of travel and trade,” said Deputy Chief Migration Officer for visas, passports, and work permits, Mr. Clarence Parisau, in his remarks explained.

He reiterated the system’s importance to national security. “This is not just a technology achievement; it is a national security priority. It strengthens our capacity to protect PNG’s people, secure our borders, and enhance tourism and trade.”

Mr. Parisau added, “Going forward, phase two of this project will expand on these capabilities and will integrate data feeds from all airlines and sea vessels, taking our border security to the next level.”
