A restaurant could be changed into a new mini golf place. Cambridgeshire County Council has proposed to change a vacant unit at Cromwell Leisure Park in Cromwell Road, Wisbech into an indoor adventure golf experience, including food and drink facilities. The plans said the development will “contribute towards a diversification in the types of leisure activity available and will help retain business and economic spend within Wisbech”. If approved, the indoor experience would create two full time managerial roles, and five part-time roles. The applicants added it would “prioritise local recruitment, ensuring the economic benefits are retained within the Wisbech community”. By adding the adventure golf experience, the applicants also said it would ensure a “vacant commercial unit in a prominent location is restored to viable use”. If approved, the development would also support local suppliers and service providers and increase footfall. The vacant unit is a part of a larger unit which includes a ground floor, two restaurants and a foyer, as well as two screens for a cinema and an upper floor with six additional cinema screens. It has not been used for over two years. It has been up for sale over this time, however commercial agents said it has not sold due to “low levels of demand” which attribute to “poor footfall” and a “lack of consumer demand during lunch hours and weekdays”. Cromwell Leisure Park is made up of a food store, petrol station, cinema, three restaurants and shared parking. It can also be easily reached by local transport services. The vacant unit is next to the large food store and petrol station.
