Javea Town Hall, through its Youth Department and in collaboration with Creama, the Play Jove programme, and the Javea Restaurateurs Association, has announced a new basic hospitality training course aimed at local young people aged 16 to 30. Running from November 10 to December 5, the initiative aims to provide practical, fast-track training to help young people enter the job market, while addressing a growing local demand for qualified hospitality staff, the council says. Youth Councillor Raquel Violero explained: “This course stems from the joint commitment of the Youth Department and Creama to promote youth employment in Javea. We wanted to offer young people useful, hands-on training tailored to the sector’s needs, allowing them to integrate quickly into the town’s working environment.” Young people in Javea get chance to train for jobs in booming hospitality sector The basic, highly practical course will take place in the evenings from 7pm to 10pm, combining theoretical lessons at Play Jove with hands-on experience at the Malabrassa restaurant, which has generously provided its facilities for in-person sessions. Training will be led by Luisa Fernanda Murillo, a seasoned professional in the local hospitality sector, who successfully coordinated a similar programme in 2022. Participants will learn table service, customer care, beverage preparation, table setting and cleaning, and basic barista and cocktail-making skills, as well as visiting establishments and meeting industry professionals. Paco Alfaro, representing the Play Jove programme, highlighted that the initiative “not only trains young people but also gives them a real opportunity to join the workforce and develop both personally and professionally.” Councillor Violero added that the council intends to continue the project in future editions, aiming to establish it as a regular part of Javea’s youth training calendar. “Hospitality is one of Javea’s key economic drivers. Investing in training for our young people in this field is investing in their future and in the quality of our destination,” she concluded. Those interested can register via the QR code on the poster, which is also available on the town hall’s website and the Play Jove social media channels.
