New Horror Streaming Service Launches To Compete With Shudder

With just days to go until Halloween, a new streaming service has launched that will rival existing horror streamer Shudder. In 2015, Shudder launched as a niche streaming service where fans could get their horror fix. Similar to many streamers, Shudder has a mix of originals like Creepshow and The Creep Tapes, as well as licensed content. According to THR, Entertainment Squad's The Horror Collective announced its own streaming service focused on horror content. BloodStream will have two tiers: a free ad-supported plan and an ad-free plan that costs $5.99 each month; subscribers will only pay $59.99 per year if they sign up for an annual plan, a discount of $11.89. BloodStream is now live and can be viewed on major platforms like Roku and Fire TV, as well as mobile devices and Internet browsers. The streamer has over 1,500 movies and shows, including content from The Asylum, Dark Sky Films and Well Go USA. Fans can find "cult classics, international gems and fresh discoveries," according to an official statement. Entertainment Squad and The Horror Collective promote independent filmmakers who create horror projects. BloodStream will follow suit and showcase content that might not normally be available on other streaming services like Shudder. Entertainment Squad founder Shaked Berenson acknowledged this reality, which hurts independent filmmakers, so BloodStream will exist to give "horror the respect it deserves." For years we’ve seen incredible horror films struggle to find their audiences because the mainstream platforms treat the genre as an afterthought. BloodStream is about giving horror the respect it deserves — a place where cult classics, festival discoveries, and global hits can live side by side. We’re combining the creative with the analytical: curating films fans love while building the infrastructure to reach audiences everywhere. Screaming and Conjuring: The Resurrection and Unstoppable Rise of the Modern Horror Movie author Clark Collis and Out of Print director Julia Marchese will oversee the streamer's programming. BloodStream has teamed up with Incantor AI to help with subtitling and dubbing. This will help international independent filmmakers have wider distribution for their projects. The brand-new streaming service's reach won't be limited to just the small screen. BloodStream and Look Cinemas have made a deal to present some of BloodStream's movies in theaters, which will launch in January 2026. Only time will tell if BloodStream will have the same reach as Shudder, which has been around for 10 years and has already established itself as the go-to streaming service for horror content. Shudder's parent company is AMC Networks, which owns several cable channels and film companies. One of the biggest AMC properties is The Walking Dead, and some of the franchise's spinoffs are available to stream on Shudder. By contrast, it appears that the biggest property BloodStream has on its platform is the Sharknado TV movie franchise, which is currently trending on BloodStream. Other content currently trending includes The Death of Snow White, The Follower, Bloody Hell, Victor Crowley, Starry Eyes, Don't Look in the Basement, Blood Vessel, The Plastic Men and The Quiet Ones. The biggest distinction between Shudder and BloodStream is that the latter will lean into independent films and provide a valuable platform that wouldn't otherwise exist to certain filmmakers.
