New Hampshire’s life sciences sector to hold annual innovation event

New Hampshire Life Sciences will mark a year of rapid growth on Nov. 12 at its second annual Live Free Life Sciences event, bringing together companies and researchers driving innovation in medical technology and biotechnology. Formed in 2023, NHLS represents New Hampshire’s growing life sciences sector — an industry that includes medical device manufacturing, pharmaceutical development, laboratory research, and diagnostic testing. The industry now includes more than 600 companies statewide and contributed about $3 billion to the state’s gross regional product and $4.3 billion in sales in 2021, according to NHLS. The organization has expanded from two founding members to more than 50, adding over a dozen new businesses this year. “This has been an extraordinary year for NHLS,” said Andrea Hechavarria, president and CEO. “We started our organization with two members, and now we are 50-plus.” The Nov. 12 event will feature discussions on workforce development and cost-saving strategies. Participants will hear from Anna Puglisi, senior advisor for biotechnology at the White House, and Gov. Kelly Ayotte. The program will be held at The Artisan at Tuscan Village in Salem from 1:30 to 7 p.m. To register, visit nhlifesciences.org. Hechavarria said the organization’s goal is to “unify our membership across the state” while strengthening New Hampshire’s position in medical innovation. NHLS members also benefit from networking, industry guidance and a preferred purchasing program for laboratory and business supplies.
