ANN ARBOR, MI — A locally-owned coworking space company is coming to Downtown Ann Arbor. BrightWorks will open its third location at 255 E. Liberty St. next February, pending construction plans, according to Margaret Wyzlic, director of marketing and business development at Oxford Companies. Kate Arbour, coworking community manager at BrightWorks, said the company wanted to expand to downtown Ann Arbor because the area is special. “Ann Arbor is such an amazing, thriving community and our downtown is just so vibrant,” Arbour, 45, a Dexter resident, said. “When this space revealed itself and became available, we were like, ‘Yes, let’s do it.’” BrightWorks, as part of Oxford Companies, opened its first location at 3027 Miller Road in August 2024 and its second at 777 E. Eisenhower Parkway a couple of months after. Wyzlic said a marketing agency previously occupied the space in the East Liberty Street building. A “bring your own container” store also occupied a suite in the building from 2021 to 2024. It will offer lounges, bookable meeting rooms, shared desks, a kitchen, unlimited printing, coffee, tea and other amenities. Wyzlic wrote in an Oct. 23 email the space will offer natural lighting “with a creative, buzzy atmosphere.” “What they’re really greeted with is a warm sense of hospitality,“ Arbour said. “We want people to feel welcomed and taken care of.” Wyzlic said new BrightWorks members “are pleasantly surprised with the level of service that they get.” She added that the expansion is part of the company’s mission of serving Ann Arbor residents. “This entire endeavor is really about continuing to serve our Ann Arbor community and make sure that we are diversifying what we offer to meet the demands of and the needs of our community,” Wyzlic said.
