A massive new Chinese buffet restaurant is set to open at a former bingo hall in Rutherglen. The building, which has been empty since Mecca bingo closed around five years ago, will now be home to Beijing Banquet, who operate eateries across Scotland. Pictures from inside the building when it was up for sale in 2023 showed that time had stood still inside, with the hall untouched following its closure. And according to its website, its latest restaurant will be opening on 58 Main Street. An exact opening date has not been confirmed, but bosses have promised the restaurant will be "coming soon". Beijing Banquet posted on its website: "Opening soon...watch this space." The restaurant will be open 12pm-4pm and 5pm-9.30pm every Monday to Saturday, and 12.30pm-4pm and 5pm-9.30pm on Sunday. It will close for an hour between 4pm and 5pm everyday. The business already operates in Renfre, Falkirk, Kilmarnock, Sighthill, Glenrothes and Danderhall.
