A new hotel is set to open in Cambridge in a Grade II listed building that used to house the city's police and fire station. The Hobson Cambridge by Adina will open in the historic Hobson House on St Andrew's Street on Monday, November 24. The Hobson Cambridge by Adina will include 56 apartments with open-plan living spaces and modern kitchenettes. The hotel is named after Thomas Hobson, a 17th century businessman who once used the building as his stables. The brand said it will blend "centuries of heritage architecture and storied history with contemporary comfort". Alongside apartments for guests at the hotel, there will also be spaces and meeting rooms open to the public. The hotel will also feature the Oz & Isle restaurant that will serve "as a lively gathering place for locals, students, and visitors" with its sharing menu. The restaurant has been designed with "vibrant greenery, intimate corners, and an energised yet relaxed atmosphere". Oz & Isle has been "created to honour the building's historic grandeur". The Hobson Cambridge by Adina can be found just a short walk away from some of Cambridge's must-see sights including Parker's Piece and many of Cambridge University's colleges. You can also easily reach the River Cam if you want to go punting. The Hobson Cambridge by Adina is the first TFE hotel to open in the UK. TFE hotels is an Australian brand that has a "distinctive apartment-style concept" and has hotels around the world including Tokyo, Sydney and Berlin. Ray Goertz, the Regional General Manager UK, said: "From its medieval origins to its Victorian reinvention and now its 21st-century transformation, The Hobson Cambridge by Adina stands as a living testament to the city’s layered history. "We chose Cambridge not only for its heritage but also because it is one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities - a global hub where knowledge, culture, and innovation thrive. It’s the perfect place to open an apartment hotel that invites guests not just to stay, but to become part of Cambridge’s exciting future". Reservations for the Hobson Cambridge by Adina are open and can be booked through the TFE hotels website. The hotel is putting on an opening offer, which will be available until the end of the year, for guests to enjoy a stay for £99 a night, which includes a welcoming drink. Standard room rates start at £179 a night.
