Marisa Gerards, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to India, Nepal, and Bhutan, has expressed interest in exploring the historical Dutch connections in the Visakhapatnam region and mooted the preservation of Dutch monuments in partnership with Dutch companies and academic institutions.
Ms. Gerards, accompanied by a delegation from the Netherlands Embassy and representatives of Indo-Dutch business organisations, visited GITAM (Deemed to be University) here on Tuesday.
During an interactive session with university officials, she underlined the growing Indo-Dutch relations and discussed areas of mutual cooperation in health, energy, agriculture, water management, urban development, and education. She also highlighted the historical Dutch presence in Visakhapatnam and suggested collaborative initiatives to preserve heritage monuments.
GITAM Vice-Chancellor Eroll D’Souza said the envoy’s visit aimed at identifying potential areas of academic and research collaboration between Dutch institutions and the university.
