Netflix has released the first footage of Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher season four – but fans have low expectations for the new series following the exit of its most beloved actor.
The upcoming installment of the medieval-inspired thriller will premiere on Netflix on October 30.
And Hunger Games star Liam will take over the role of demon-slayer Geralt of Rivia, played in the first three seasons by Henry Cavill.
It was announced in 2022 that the Superman actor would be stepping down from his role, with sources citing creative differences, according to the Independent.
Melbourne-born Liam, 35, will portray the character instead, and the first clip from the series sees him in a dramatic battle where he wrenches out his opponent’s heart.
But it appears fans are not impressed, with many claiming show bosses have gutted the essence of the series by apparently ousting Cavill.

‘Remember guys, don’t blame Liam, blame the producers,’ wrote one disgruntled viewer, while another added: ‘Liam pulling heart out of the wraith is quite symbolic of what producers did to the show.’
Others confessed that while Liam is suitable for the role, they simply feel Henry’s shoes are too big to fill.
One wrote: ‘If Henry Cavill didn’t exist, Liam is actually not a bad casting. Anyway, RIP to what could’ve been the next Game Of Thrones.’
Another echoed the sentiment, writing: ‘I’ll give Liam a chance, but Henry Cavill was perfect for the part.’
‘This TV show without Henry Cavill is like Pirates of Caribbean without Johnny Depp!’ one commented.
‘The Witcher won’t be the same without Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia,’ another agreed.
And one wrote: ‘It’s just not the same without Henry Cavill.’
The synopsis reads: ‘After the Continent-altering events of season three, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies.

It comes days after Liam and his glamorous model partner Gabriella Brooks confirmed their engagement.
Gabriella, 29, took to Instagram on Friday to share the news with her 201,000 followers.
The first photo, in black and white, showed Gabriella cuddling up close to Liam as he sported a contented grin.
Another snap showed Gabriella flaunting the impressive diamond sparkler. Gabriella captioned the images with a simple white love heart emoji.
The romantic post was met with a flurry of well wishes from friends and followers.
‘Yes! Engagement gainz,’ one excitedly wrote. ‘Massive congratulations to you and the big rig.’

Liam, 35, found love again with Gabriella in late 2019, following his separation and later divorce from US pop star Miley Cyrus.
He confirmed his split with Miley in August 2019, with the couple finalising their divorce in January 2020 after less than a year of marriage.
The on-again-off-again couple first began dating in 2010 after meeting on the set of The Last Song and got engaged for the first time in May 2012.
However, they then split up in September 2013 before reuniting in 2016.
They went on to tie the knot in December 2018 before splitting for good just eight months later.
