Netflix adds most 'underrated horror film' which fan says you need to watch now

Netflix fans have been urged to add a horror film to their watch-list which could possibly be one of the best you've seen this year. It's almost Halloween, which means it's the perfect time of year to watch something spooky to get you in the mood. Streaming service Netflix has something for everyone when it comes to Halloween - whether you like something classic like Casper, or something scary like The Grudge. But according to horror critic Ricky, there's another one you should be adding to your list. Taking to his @Rickysixsixsix TikTok account, Ricky said: "I can't believe I'm about to say this but Netflix has just dropped a good horror film. Not just a good horror film, a bl**** excellent horror film. One that might be in my top five favourite films this whole year." The film is called It's What's Inside, an American science fiction comedy horror film, released in 2024 and directed by Greg Jardin. It stars Brittany O'Grady, who appeared in the first season of The White Lotus, James Morosini (American Horror Story) and Alycia Debnam-Carey (The 100). About the plot, Ricky explained it "centres around a group of friends who are getting together the day before one of their friends' wedding". He continued: "So the group of friends have known each other for a really long time. They all went to college together, and because of that they have a very complicated history and their relationship as a collective comes with a lot of baggage". He mentions one character called Forbes who has been off the radar for a while and people are surprised when he turns up to the party. Ricky continues: "That's when Forbes introduces this device he's carrying with him. And that's as far as I'm going to go in regards to the plot with this film." The film fan explained he initially didn't think he was going to like the movie, especially because the first 20 minutes felt very "hectic, very modern" and had a lot of aspects he didn't like, such as text messages popping up on the screen. However, what made it so good for Ricky was the "story itself and the acting performances". He was worried it would be "teen drama" all the way through, and although there were elements of it in the film, he was proved wrong. Ricky explained: "This movie was really, really stylish. I love the cinematography in this movie. I love how artistic this movie is with its lighting. It's rare that we get a movie these days with really modern characters that is shot this way. That is almost a callback, or is inspired by films from the past." However, the horror fan added that it was "extremely convoluted", so you'd have to pay attention to the plot to know what was going on. That being said, he said it was a "joy to sit through the film and try to figure it out". Many people in the comment section were divided about the film, with one person saying: "It was actually a decent horror film," and another adding: "Watched it TWICE, I loved it!!" However, another, who wasn't as convinced, added: "It was okay, had potential but just got way too confusing." And another agreed, writing: "It's not good. I watch a lot of horrors. And this wasn't a good one."
