If you're looking for a fun thriller to binge-watch, Netflix's Clickbait is the perfect guilty pleasure pick. The streaming service has several amazing thrillers, including the hit Mindhunter and a few miniseries adapted from Harlan Coben's books, and they're all filled with twists and well-crafted characters. But even though Clickbait has a great cast, a strong premise, and twist after twist, it was quickly forgotten about after it premiered on Netflix in August 2021, and it doesn't get mentioned very often these days. It's sad because, when you need something new and want to make sure it's going to be entertaining, this one's your best bet. Clickbait Is One Of Netflix’s Most Underrated Thrillers Clickbait has a fantastic premise and, even better, it delivers on it. A video goes viral of Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier) tied up in a chair with a card reading, "At 5 million views I die." What happens next is a moving, smart, and shocking story that doles out clues about Nick's kidnapper at a perfect pace. While other Netflix thrillers are talked about all the time, this one faded into the background pretty soon after it arrived on the streaming platform. That's a shame because, since Clickbait is a miniseries, it tells a satisfying story in just eight episodes, and you won't walk away disappointed. It also has an excellent plot twist that is hard to see coming, which is important. Once you watch enough thriller and horror movies or TV shows, it can be tough to be surprised because you know this kind of narrative structure. Clickbait has a wild reveal that you're still going to be thinking about after the finale. Most important of all, what makes Clickbait so underrated is its powerful message. Sure, you want to know what happened to Nick, and you'll speed through the episodes to get to the big, shocking reveal. But you also care about the people who are affected by this terrifying situation, from his wife Sophie (Betty Gabriel) to his sister Pia (Zoe Kazan). This nice mix of character development and puzzle pieces combines to make a fantastic thriller. The over-the-top premise is a bit more melodramatic than some of Netflix's other thrillers, and it's not quite as high-quality as the brilliant and bleak Mindhunter. But it's a fun ride, and guilty pleasure shows are important, too. Why Clickbait Is Perfect For Fans Of Netflix's Past Thrillers Clickbait is a great watch if you love Netflix thrillers like You and Mindhunter because it's as smart, entertaining, and dramatic as those two more popular picks. All three shows allow you to look into the mind of the villain and learn as much about them as their victims. And, like those two other beloved series, Clickbait has a binge-worthy structure with cliffhangers at the end of episodes. It does a lot in a short amount of time and is also a clever meditation on viral fame, social media, and the way that personal tragedies are often treated as entertainment. Pia and Sophie's suffering is contrasted by the fact that so many strangers are enjoying watching Nick's video and looking at it as a game. This makes the story as heartbreaking as it is fast-paced.
