Warning, this article contains minor spoilers for The Witcher season four* Netflix have shadow dropped a new spin-off movie set in the world of The Witcher, but it is hidden away from some users. It is available to stream now on the same day that season four has been made available (October 30). While it serves as a prequel feature length film, concentrating on some main characters shown in the latest eight-part series, it also reveals a little of what happens after the finale. Titled The Rats: A Witcher Tale, the production of the film was long rumoured although no release date was confirmed. To everyone's surprise, it is out now but watching it is not so simple. It is not the first spin-off based on the world of the Witcher produced by Netflix. Previously, Blood Origin, released in 2022, told the story of the Continent before the conjunction of the spheres, which was the world altering event that merged the worlds of elves with humans, monsters and magic. However, The Rats has a direct link with the main series as it involves some of the same characters and also picks up where one left off. But what is it about and how can you watch it? Here's all you need to know. According to its brief synopsis: "To pull off a daring heist, a gang of six misfit outlaws will have to do something they've never done before: trust each other and a washed up Witcher." It's a feature length instalment, clocking in at one hour and 22 minutes long. The film's story follows one of the Rats' earliest heists and how they first crossed paths with bounty hunter Leo Bonhart. Viewers should find out why the ruthless killer was so determined to track down the gang in season four's events. While it serves as a prequel, viewers will get a glimpse of Ciri's whereabouts following her own brutal clash with Bonhart. While The Rats: A Witcher Tale is streaming now, it is not available immediately. According to Netflix's Tudum website, the special doesn’t become available to users until the entirety of the new season has been watched on their account. Even then, the title is somewhat hidden away. Searching Witcher to bring up 'The World of The Witcher Collection' should bring up the title if all episodes of season four have been viewed. It can also likely be found under the 'more like this' banner when The Witcher series is selected. A number of stars reprise their roles from The Witcher season four in the film. This includes Freya Allen as Ciri and Sharlo Copley as Leo Bonhart. Plus all members of the Rats: Also joining the cast is action movie icon Dolph Lundgren, known for appearing in Rocky IV and The Expendables. Lundgren plays washed up and rogue witcher Brehen. The Witcher season four and The Rats: A Witcher Tale are streaming on Netflix.
