Netflix's Being Eddie release date and what to expect from the Eddie Murphy special

The Eddie Murphy documentary, Being Eddie, is set to hit Netflix , giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the life of the iconic actor. From his roles in Shrek and Coming to America, to Beverly Hill Cop and Norbit, Eddie Murphy has become a household name, having climbed the ladder from the world of stand-up comedy. The notoriously private 64-year-old has largely managed to avoid the limelight, so Netflix's Being Eddie special will be a thrilling first for Murphy enthusiasts. With the premiere just around the corner, here's everything you need to know before Being Eddie hits the screens. Being Eddie is set to drop on Netflix on Wednesday, November 12, with only a few days left until its release. Unlike Victoria Beckham's three-part documentary released last month, Being Eddie will be a one-off special. Given his successful career spanning several decades, it's no surprise that Murphy has gathered a host of famous friends, many of whom will feature in the documentary. Among those already announced are comedians Kevin Hart and Pete Davidson , Black-Ish star Tracee Ellis Ross, Coming To America co-star Arsenio Hall and comic Chris Rock . Other big names to appear include Django Unchained and Ray actor Jamie Foxx, as well as 30 Rock legend Tracy Morgan. In addition to his celebrity pals, Being Eddie will also showcase the actor's wife Paige Butcher and some of his 10 children, whom he shares with five different women. Being Eddie is set to celebrate the star's almost 50-year career in entertainment, exploring his rise to stardom and what sets him apart in an industry full of talent. The documentary will also mark the first occasion that Murphy has allowed cameras into his home, offering viewers a glimpse into his private life. Directed by two-time Oscar winner Angus Wall, the synopsis for Being Eddie reads: "it goes without saying that there is only one Eddie Murphy. "No other teen comedian shared a stage with Jerry Seinfeld at 17, and joined the cast of Saturday Night Live right out of high school. "No actor has ever played a cop, a doctor, and a donkey - and dominated every facet of Hollywood he's touched. "Fewer still have been an A-list celebrity for over four decades, and never succumbed to its darker side." Being Eddie premieres on Wednesday, 12 November, on Netflix.
