Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slammed wild conspiracy theories that his government was involved in Charlie Kirk’s assassination – floating the lies could be Qatari-funded.
“Somebody has fabricated a monstrous big lie – that Israel had something to do with Charlie Kirk’s horrific murder,” he said in a social media video posted Wednesday morning Israeli time. “This is insane, it is false, it is outrageous.”
Netanyahu said Kirk loved Israel and the Jewish people, and had sent a supportive letter to the Israel leader recently before his death.
“Now, if Charlie disagreed with a policy of mine or a decision here and there, not only did I not mind, I welcomed it,” Netanyahu said. “This is the essence of Charlie, this is the essence of a free country, it’s exactly what Charlie stood for.”

The unfounded speculation ran rampant following Kirk’s violent death last week with conspiracy theorists pointing to the conservative commentator’s light criticism of policies from Israel, according to the Times of Israel.
“Now, some are peddling these disgusting rumors — perhaps out of obsession, perhaps with Qatari funding,” said Netanyahu.
